Episode 82: Spring Clean Your Body: Detox with Science, Not Fads

Spring isn’t just for decluttering your home, it’s also the perfect season to refresh your health. In this energizing episode, we share how to spring clean your body using real science, not fad diets or extreme detoxes. Discover how your body naturally eliminates toxins and how to support those vital processes with practical, everyday strategies.

We break down how key systems like your liver, gut, skin, and lymphatic system handle detoxification, and how nutrition, hydration, movement, and stress reduction all play a role. You will learn which foods fuel phase one and phase two detox pathways, which supplements may support cellular repair, and which simple daily rituals—like dry brushing, walking, and breathwork—can amplify your results.

This episode is your guide to feeling lighter, clearer, and more energized, without deprivation. We also share how to take your detox deeper with her six-week practitioner-guided cleanse and her book Optimal You. If you’re ready to refresh your body the smart, sustainable way, this episode is your first step.

The liver handles this through two main phases of detoxification. Phase one is where it uses enzymes to convert toxins into intermediate forms, but some of these can actually be even more toxic. Phase two then neutralizes these intermediates so they can be eliminated via the bile, the urine, or the sweat. And both phases rely on nutrients, things like B-vitamins, magnesium, amino acids, and antioxidants. If your diet is low in these or your liver is overloaded, the process can slow down, leaving you feeling sluggish, bloated, or foggy.
